4-H, FFA hog show held at Tri-State

Yesterday at 9:00 AM | | |

4-H and FFA members from Bradley County showed at the County Hog Show at Tri-State Exhibition Center on Sunday.
Fourteen youth participant weighed in, groomed and showed their 22 animals and competed for judge Courtney Tavern.  Tavern is from Kentucky and came for the day to judge the youth and their swine.
The youth participated in a Skill-a-Thon test where they had to identify types of feed, parts of the animal, cuts of meats, diseases and basic care for pigs.  The Skill-a-thon contest is always a fun one to test the youth’s knowledge of pigs.  The showmanship contest is where youth are judged on their ability to show their animal.  The criteria is based on the child alone and not on the pig.
