    The Cleveland Middle School Dance Team Raiderettes competed in two dance competitions in Nashville recently. The first competition, the Cheersport Grand Cheer and Dance Competition, took place in early November and The Jamfest Cheer and Dance Grand Championship followed later.

  • Flag display removed

    FLAGS REMOVED — Veteran’s Day marked the end of the annual flag display on Cleveland streets. The Kiwanis Club of Cleveland project runs from Memorial Day until Veteran’s Day and encompasses over 400 U.S. flags. Numerous community sponsors are financially involved with the project and the flags are placed and removed each year by Cleveland Utilities.     An April kidnapping and assault turned into a conviction for a man who had been accused of the act against a Chattanooga woman. The incident occurred April 13 at a mobile home located on Thompson Springs Road.

    Blythe-Bower Elementary School has partnered with Hospice of Cleveland, an affiliate of Hospice of Chattanooga, to provide a grief counseling support group for students.

    DIVEL RECEIVES VOLUNTEER AWARD — Bradley County Planner Corey Divel, left, has been recognized for his volunteer work. Divel was presented Tennessee’s Volunteer Stars Award Monday in Nashville. Presenting the award was TDEC Commissioner Jim Fyke, who was filling in for Gov. Phil Bredesen. The award recognizes outstanding adult and youth volunteers from across the state. Program Director Jim Snell said, “these volunteers are the backbone of our communities who give of their time and talents to fulfill needs which would otherwise go unmet.”
  • Enrollment in CoverKids is at capacity

    NASHVILLE — Enrollment in CoverKids, the state- and federally-funded program for uninsured children, will be suspended after Nov. 30, as the program reaches its budgeted capacity.
