Gladys Rogers Harris, 90, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday morning, June 10, 2009, in a Chattanooga hospital.
She was born in Madisonville June 15, 1918, and was the daughter of the late Bob Rogers and Callie Raper Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Harris; grandson, Bobby Denton; great-grandson, Tanner Cline; one sister and several brothers.
She was a member of Southview Baptist Church for 58 years.
Survivors include her daughters: Slyvila Smith and her husband, John and Judy Denton and her husband, Bob, all of Cleveland; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Rogers of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, at the Wildwood Avenue Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. H. M. Hyde and Ronnie Ledford officiating.
Interment will follow in Chestuee Cemetery near Madisonville with Gerald Johnson, Michael Crumley, Bobby Richmond, Darrell Huggins, Terry Denton and Josh Denton serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
