Hal Junior O'Neal left this world after a lengthy illness Wednesday June 10, 2009, at the home he shared with his loving wife, Darlene Scroggins O'Neal.
He was born July 27, 1927, in Staunton, Ill., the son of the late Elmer and Bonnie O'Neal.
He was preceded in death by his three brothers: Nolan, Pat and Dale.
A welder/pipe fitter by trade, he retired from Dalton Fabricating and worked for numerous security companies. He served his country as a gunner for the navy in World War II.
Beside his wife he is survived by his stepson, David Brewer; daughters: Sherrie Hall and her husband, Frank, and Diane Davis, all of Godfrey, Ill; grandson, Jeff Davis and wife, Tammy, of Carbondale, Ill.; and granddaughters: Becky Diorio and husband, Mark, of Mokena, Ill.; great-grandchildren: Morgan, Mason, Isabella and Anthony; brother, Gene and wife, Sharon; and sisters-in-law: Nyla, Leola and Kay, all of Illinois.
The family will receive friends at the Durkee Road Church of God of Prophecy Saturday, June 13, 2009, from 2 to 3 p.m. with memorial service to follow at 3 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Durkee Road Church of God of Prophecy in his honor.
He will be greatly missed.
