THE BRADLEY COUNTY 4-H 2020 Chick Chain Show and Sale was held Tuesday at the Peerless Road show barn. 4-Hers from fourth to 12th grades raised day old baby chicks starting in the spring through the fall. This project allows students to experience hands on learning in poultry husbandry, nutrition and handling.  Each 4-Her chose their top three chickens to enter into the show, they then choose to sell or to take home. There were 78 chickens judged on body composition, uniformity and plumage colors. The birds were pre-sold to buyers prior to the show. “This was the most uniform group of birds I have ever seen in a show,” Judge Jason DeBusk said as he looked at the highly competitive birds. The Grand Champion winner was Blake Whitted, shown, and Reserve Grand Champion was Antonio Victoria. If you are interested in becoming a buyer or participating in the Chick Chain please contact the Bradley County Extension office (423)728-7001 or emaillmiddle2@utk.edu or hgoodson@utk.edu.   more
