The celebratory launch of a new year means somebody’s going to be the first baby born in Bradley County in 2013.

Whoever it is — whether blanketed in pink or blue — will be responsible for showering the exuberant young parents with plenty of gifts compliments of some community-minded businesses.

Local merchants will be honoring and pampering both the parents and their new bundle of wiggly joy.

For the baby, the gifts include 500 free diapers from SkyRidge Medical Center, a newborn baby gift basket from the Baby Place, and a 14-karat gold baby ring from Coy’s Jewelers.

For Mom and Dad, Cooke’s Food Store is presenting a $50 gift certificate; Cleveland Therapeutic Massage Clinic is donating a one-hour massage for mom; a simple will for Mom and Dad from Blackwell Law Offices; a dozen glazed doughnuts from the Village Green Bake Shop; a $50 gift certificate and an “It’s a Boy” or “It’s a Girl” plush toy from Cherokee Pharmacy; a choice between two breakfast or dinner combo meals from The Chef; a hydro massage session from Williams Chiropractic; and special gifts items from Foster’s Trail and Alpaca Farm are also included.

Until confirmation by SkyRidge Medical Center, all Bradley County eyes will be focused on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday ... and beyond.

Timing of the lucky baby’s arrival will be determined ... by the lucky baby.

Mom and Dad will just have to wait for the decision.
