1-181st Field Artillery to deploy to Kuwait

Nearly 200 soldiers from the Tennessee National Guard 1-181st Field Artillery in Chattanooga are leaving Thursday on the first leg of a deployment taking them to Kuwait for one year.

The soldiers are to depart the Chattanooga National Guard Armory on Holtzclaw Avenue at 9 a.m. Thursday for Camp Shelby, Miss., where they will undergo approximately one month of specialized training.

A going-away ceremony for soldiers’ families and friends is scheduled Wednesday at 1 p.m., at the armory.
