An Athens woman was arrested on possession of methamphetamine after she was reportedly caught up in an attempt by an alleged accomplice to shoplift in a local store.

Detra Anne Anderson, 36, was charged by Cleveland Police Department officer Brandon West.

According to his complaint, West said he responded to Target and spoke with loss prevention personnel.

A male had been monitored by the loss prevention officials. Travis L. Raper, 34, was charged with theft of property after officers made contact with both suspects, according to the report.

Officers were able to identify Anderson on video. She had reportedly accompanied Raper into the store. According to the report, Anderson attempted to leave the parking lot after store officials reportedly identified a watch and tags from the watch in Raper’s pocket.

Anderson told the officer she “didn’t steal anything.”

During a search of the vehicle, West found a box of plastic bags and a box of Aleve with pseudoephedrine. A small bag of suspected meth was also located, according to the report.

West gained information Anderson was on probation for manufacture of meth and had previous charges regarding meth production in McMinn and Blount counties.

Anderson had an outstanding warrant for her arrest regarding McMinn County charges.

According to West, Anderson was in possession of 2 grams of suspected methamphetamine.

Both were taken to the Bradley County Jail and booked on their respective charges.
