4-H, FFA members show beef heifers

Winners at the Foothills Country Fair beef show for 4-H and FFA members included: Whitney Morrow, the recipient of the 2011 Josh Ownby Memorial Award; Lynne Middleton, extension agent, 4-H; Bryan Ownby, the recipient of the 2011 Josh Ownby Memorial Award; and Kathy Ownby, the Bradley County 4-H Beef Club leader.

4-H and FFA members were invited to exhibit their beef heifers at the Foothills Country Fair on Saturday.

The animals that were shown represented the following breeds: Angus, Shorthorn, Angus Cross, Commercial Heifers, and Hereford cattle.

The Grand Champion Angus heifer was shown by Cody Cox and the Reserve Grand Champion was Ross Sneed. The Grand Champion Shorthorn heifer and Grand Champion Hereford heifer were shown by Rosa Haynes.

Whitney Morrow won the Grand Champion Award for the Angus Cross breed and Bryan Ownby won Reserve Grand Champion. The Commercial Grand Champion was Whitney Morrow and the Reserve Grand Champion was Allie Morrow.

The Supreme Champion of the 2011 Beef Show was Whitney Morrow’s Angus cross breed. The Reserve Supreme Champion was Whitney Morrow’s commercial cow.

Whitney Morrow also received the 2011 Josh Ownby Memorial Award, which is given in honor of 4-H member Josh Ownby who drowned a number of years ago.
