4-Hers compete in horse championships

Five Bradley County 4-H members competed at the State 4-H Horse Championships in Shelbyville last week.

The members of the T.C. Wranglers 4-H Club, led by volunteer leader Jennifer Myers, were Carolyn Henley, Kaitlyn Henley, Lindsey Noe, Kyra Petty and Jessica Starling.

On the first day of the week-long event, Jessica Starling and Kyra Petty competed in the State Open Horse Judging Contest.

In horse judging, youth participants judge horses for confirmation, body structure, and gait.

Jessica won first-place Individual in the Senior High State Contest.

Jessica went on to also win seventh place in her trail class as well and first place in her Halter class.

During the on-horse events, Carolyn won fourth place in her Hunter under Saddle class and ninth place out of 30 in Hunter over Fences.

Carolyn also won fifth place in Equitation over Fences for the Novice and Reserve Grand Champion in the Trail Class.

Kaitlyn won sixth place in her Trail Class while Lindsey Noe won eighth place in Showmanship and 10th place in Novice Equitation. Kyra Petty was fifth place in Showmanship and won Grand Champion in Ranch Riding.
