Born to James Henry and Marie Miller on Aug. 24, 1936, in Sweetwater, she attended High Point High School and after many years of service, she retired from Martin Marietta (Y-12).
Married to William T. Smith, three beautiful daughters were born during their union: Secelia Smith of Sweetwater; Jacqueline Smith Nero of Lenoir City; and Pamela Branch (Terence) of Memphis.
Having a great passion for loving and serving others, she faithfully carried out her mission for Christ as church mother at North Point Presbyterian Church, and her community service included cooking, visiting, and sharing her great sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Jewel Thompson and Virginia Gains; brothers: Bill Miller and John Miller; and grandson, Orris Mitchell Nero II.
She leaves to cherish her memories her daughters and son-in-law; grandchildren: Devin Winston of Chattanooga and Marteaka Nero of Lenoir City; sisters: Katie Mayotte of Hixson, Lois Crawford of Oakland, Calif., and Dorthea Daniels of Long Beach, Calif.; sister-in-law, Helen Miller of Cleveland; special nephew, Brian L. Buckmon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m. with funeral services to follow at Kyker Funeral Home, 113 W. North St., Sweetwater TN 37874. The Rev. Ivey Smith will be officiating.
Interment to follow at Sweetwater Memory Gardens.
