Amanda Ruth Cooley, 54, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away on Saturday night, Sept. 14, 2013, in a Chattanooga hospital.
She was born on July 19, 1959. She was of the Baptist faith.
She worked for Bradley County Sheriff’s office as a correctional officer. She dearly loved her children, grandson and entire family. Her caring personality was always putting others before herself. Her children said if they could pick one word to describe their mother it would be “Awesome!”
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Wilson.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Gene Cooley; mother, Maxine Wilson; daughter, Jackie Cooley; son, Ernie Shaw; grandson she termed “her angel,” Christian Gartin; three sisters: Kim Dixon, Nancy Baker and Debbie Tozer; three brothers: Craig Wilson, Jessie Wilson and James Wilson; and other extended family members and a host of special friends.
A celebration of her life is planned for 8 this evening, Sept. 17, 2013, at the United Christian Church, 2200 Peerless Road, with Pastor Gary Shuler officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church from 6 until the 8 p.m. service time.
