He was born in Chattanooga on Nov. 9, 1952, a son of the late Jack and Hazel Newby.
He had been a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and North Georgia area.
He owned and operated an upholstery business in Chattanooga as well as being a gifted tattoo artist at Ink Expressions in Chattanooga. He was a very caring and giving man to all those around him who might be in need.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marcia Gail Steele; and one brother, Richard Newby.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his life companion, Tina Sampson; two daughters: Andrea Newby and Kristy Bearden, both of Dalton, Ga.; three sons: Eric Newby (Charissa) of Ooltewah, Damon Newby of Chattanooga, and Levi Newby of Ringgold, Ga.; one sister, Dorothy Keith (Roy) of Ringgold, Ga.; three brothers: Jack Newby (Betty), Bobby Newby (Tammy), and Eldun Newby (Marsha), all of Dalton; 13 grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at Kinser Church of God, 140 Kinser Road S.E., Cleveland TN 37323, with the Rev. Mike Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow in United Memorial Gardens in Dalton, located on Cleveland Highway.
Pallbearers will be fellow artists he worked with from Ink Expressions.
The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 9 this evening and also one hour prior to the service Tuesday.
