Pope’s early training was with Ruth Aiken in Cleveland and in Chattanooga at the Cadek Conservatory of Music, where she studied piano with LeRoy Anspach and Frances Hall Hill.
While studying there, she was soloist with the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra. Pope received the bachelor of music degree from the Florida State University and a master of music degree from Bowling Green State University.
While at Florida State, Pope studied piano with Edward Kilenyi and repertoire with Ernst von Dohnanyi. She was a keyboardist with the Toledo Symphony during the 1990s and a soloist with the Perrysburg (Ohio) Symphony.
Pope is a member of ASCAP and her arrangements of duo-piano music have been published by Belwin/Warner Bros.
With her two-piano partner Valrie Kantorski, Pope has released a CD of the 21 Brahms Hungarian Dances on the Whaling City Sound label. It is available on the Kantorski-Pope Duo website.
The Duo recently — July 30, 2011 — performed in Gallup, N.M., at the El Morro Theatre.
Pope is a member of the Chattanooga Music Teachers Association and an active chamber musician in the Chattanooga area.
Having a lifelong interest in the rich musical history of Cleveland, Pope continues her research, hoping to write a book on the subject.
