Anna Lee McCamish Carroll, 101, is now celebrating her new life in heaven with Jesus Christ which began Friday, July 13, 2012.

She lived her life devoted to the purpose God prepared for her to do before she was born. From July 31, 1910 – July 13, 2012, the time she spent here between the dashes counted for doing good works. She touched countless lives and lived an honorable, godly life.

She fulfilled her purpose by serving God, family and her church all of her active adult years. She became a follower of Jesus Christ at the age of 12 and served Him in three churches, Waterville Baptist, Hopewell Baptist and Maple Street Baptist.

She was a student of the Bible and a gifted teacher of God’s Word. She served as leader of the Women’s Missionary Union, Girl’s Auxiliary, and Young Women’s Missions Groups. She taught Sunday School to different age groups and directed and taught inVacation Bible Schools.

She was involved in the Parent Teacher’s Association at Oak Grove School. Musically inclined, she sang and played the piano.

As a homemaker, she raised 12 children, all but two survive her. She excelled as a homemaker with her cooking, canning, gardening, seamstress and quilting making sure her family’s needs were met.

She was a caregiver for her mother who lived to be 103 years old. She generously gave of herself, her time and her money.

Family who preceded her in death were her husband, James Lee Carroll; daughter, Frances Owens; son, Roger Carroll; parents: the Rev H.R. and Carrie McCamish; brothers: Roy, Virgil, and Ray McCamish; three sons-in-law; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Survivors are her son, Donald Carroll and wife, Shirley; nine daughters: Evelyn Jones, Betty Benker, Norma Delay, Gloria Cameron, Barbara Duggan and husband Jack, Kay Suits and husband Bob, Edna Polier and husband Jim, all of Cleveland, Sandra Caswell and husband Andy of Carrollton, Ga., and Brenda Van Huff and husband Al of Anchorage, Alaska; 32 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; 24 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great- grandchild.

Her home-going celebration will be today, July 15, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Caywood officiating.

Interment will follow in Fort Hill Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service. Pallbearers are grandsons Jamey Carroll, Todd Duggan, Randall Bivens, Danny Mantooth, Josh Caswell and Billy Headrick. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons Greg Duggan, Jerry Headrick, Mark True, Tim Mantooth, J.L. Jones, Steve Benker, Lamar Suits, Robert Suits, Michael Suits, Chuck Delay, Brian Singh, Steven Singh and Tony Strickland.
