Antonia W. “Toni” Francis, 64, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Hospice of Chattanooga.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her parents, Della Williams-Cox and Author Kennedy; and many uncle and aunts.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children: Joseph, Antoinette “Cissy”, Alfred Jr “Chucky” and Portia Francis; sister, Joyce (Quinton) Coleman; brother, Emanuel Kennedy; stepbrother, Jerome Kennedy; stepfather, Tim Barrett; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Delores Jones; nieces and nephew; special friends: Eugene Brown and Carol Westfield; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was a graduate of Collage Hill High School and attended North Cleveland Church of God.
Toni, as she was affectionately known, would always greet you with a big smile. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and dominos, her favorite colors was blue and she love to watch western movies.
She was a very activity member in the community when she was in good health. She was a member of the “Women to Woman”, an organization of women at the Cleveland Housing Authority on Lay and Elrod Street. She served as vice president and president of the resident council for Cleveland Housing Authority. She was awarded several certificates for her participating in the “Tennessee’s Community Assistance Corporation Conferences” in Pigeon Forge. She loved attending special programs and activities at the Senior Activity Center where she was crowned “Queen of the Senior Citizen’s Prom” in 2012. She was a people person who wanted to stay busy helping others and was willing to help her neighbors in any way that she could, she loved cooking for the group of women that she served with in her organizations. She helped at the Walker Street nutrition site where she worked with the site coordinator, Carol Westfield.
She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
The body may be viewed Friday, May 9, 2014, from noon until 6 p.m.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 10, 2014, from 12:30 until service time at 1 p.m. in the Patton Funeral Home Chapel, 265 Fair Street S.E.
The Rev. Joe Hanshaw of North Cleveland Church of God will bring the eulogy, the Rev. Mattie Benton of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will officiate.
Interment to follow at Fort Hill Cemetery.
