The Cleveland Aqua Tigers traveled to Ooltewah Swim Center to face the Tidal Waves for their second meet of the summer season. On a very hot and humid Thursday night/ despite a strong effort, CAT was defeated by a score of 463-298, making its current record 3-2.
Many strong Aqua Tiger swimmers were out this week at camps and on vacation, but coach Eric Frazier said, "It creates opportunities for other team members to step up and swim for points, and the experience makes them better."
High point swimmers for the Aqua Tigers were Jacob McDaniel, 19 points. With 14 each: Spencer Payne, Megan Mitchell and Nelson Chung. Ben Cooper chalked up 13 points while Bri Foley tallied 12. Grayson Payne scored 11 points for CAT and Alexia Jackson, Logan Stutzman, Jason Chung, and Evan Stutzman brought home 10 each.
For the Ooltewah Tidal Waves Leah Boyd, Jacob Marcum, Joby Nash, Rachel Dover and Sarah Malloch each scored 19 points. Carlin Hudson and Jake Marcum booked 18. Jacob Kiemeyer and Andrew Tallent scored 17 for the Wave. With 16 points were Jillian Cantrell and Ellie Waldrep while Aiden Sims, Haley Grider, Andrew Thomas, and Brianna Nerman scored 15. Brighton Smith and Emma Scruggs scored 14, Chase Hudson, with 11 points were Meredith Childress and Bailey Hardeman and with 10 points, Emily Rollins.
Saturday, the newer Cleveland Aqua Tiger swimmers travel to Signal Mountain to compete in the Signal Mountain Developmental Meet. The team has a bye on Monday, then on Thursday will resume competition with a home meet against Fort Oglethorpe at Tinsley Pool at 6.
