In honor of veterans, the Cleveland Bradley County Public Library has two display areas on the second floor showcasing books written by veterans or about veterans. The display case in the reference area is called “My Husband’s War” and is about the Viet Nam War. The other veterans display case, located in the Galleria, contains books from World War I and II. These books are available for checkout and will be displayed through November.

Family Game Night will be Monday in the Community Room at 7 p.m. Enjoy video and board games with the whole family.

Tweens will be having their Artzone, ages 7 through 12, on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. and their ScienceZone, age 9 through 12, on Nov. 30 at 4:30 .pm. These events are age specific.

“Jazzy Little Christmas VII” will be presented by The Arts Center, 320 N. White St., Athens, on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 in the Sue E. Trotter Theater. Light hors d’oeuvres will be available at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students and are available in advance at www.athensartscouncil.org; by phone at 423-745-8781; and at The Arts Center. The Salvation Army’s third annual Jingle Bell Jog: 5K/1 mile walk will be held Dec. 1 at Tinsley Park. The event begins at 10 a.m. with registration at 9 a.m. Preregistration can be completed online at www.csarmy.com. Proceeds will go toward utility assistance for those in the Cleveland area during the harsh winter months. The 5K is competitive, flat, fast and certified. Preregister entry fee: $20; day of race entry fee: $25; preregister family fee: $40; day of race family fee: $45. One long-sleeve T-shirt will be given to all 5K runners and 1-mile walkers, and four long-sleeve T-shirts will be given per family. For more information, call Jim Welch at 308-3467.

The Scholastic Book Fair will begin Dec. 3 and continue through Dec. 10 in the Children’s Room of the library. Stop by and look and give the gift of reading to someone. Besides books, there will be other items that can be used as stocking stuffers. All monies raised from this Book Fair will be used to purchase additional books for the Children’s collection.

Author’s Night Out will be presented by the Etowah Writer’s Alliance/Etowah Arts Commission on Dec. 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Etowah Community Center. The public is invited to come meet local authors and see their books, which will be available for sale as well. The event is free to the public. For more information, call 423-435-6480.

A Resume Writing Workshop will be held on Dec. 6 and 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. Also Ebook reader workshops for Kindles on Dec. 8, iPads/iOS on Dec. 14 and Barnes & Noble Nooks on Dec. 22 from noon to 2 p.m.
