“Road to Singapore,” this month’s classic comedy movie with Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, will be screened Aug. 28 at 7 p.m. in the Cleveland Bradley Community Room. Enjoy fresh popcorn during this family friendly movie classic.

Join in fun and fellowship while learning to square dance with Calico Squares — a fun and easy family activity. Classes are Sept. 4, 11 and 18 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Garden Plaza Community Room, 3500 Keith St. The first class is free. Children, 10 and up, are welcome with parent. StageWorks of Cleveland, a new community theater group, will hold auditions for its very first show today and Monday. The group will be casting three men and three women in the play, “The Dining Room,” by A.R. Gurney for roles that will require each actor to play multiple characters. Auditions will be held in the meeting room of Comfort Inn and Suites at 107 Interstate Drive. Those auditioning do not need to make an appointment or prepare anything beforehand. The United club will meet Tuesday at the Golden Corral at 11:30 a.m. Bettie Marlowe from the Cleveland Daily Banner will be the guest speaker. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 15 at Broad Street United Methodist Church. To offset the costs of ice cream, $2 per person will be requested. FASHION SHOW, a red carpet event, will be Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at Lee University’s Dixon’s Center. All of the name brand outfits and voguish shoes are from secondhand stores. The models are local people from the community. Tickets can be purchased at or by calling 309-8346. General admission is $15 and VIP admission is $35. All of the proceeds will go to Mercy’s Door Children’s Home. After the show, the clothing items will be sold — just like a real New York Fashion Show!
