Arthur Milton Cox, 84, a resident of Chattanooga, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at his residence with his loving wife by his side.
He was born July 19, 1929, in Rome, Ga., a son of the late Edgar and Dessie Cox.
He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was of the Episcopal faith. He served his country in the United States Army and was awarded the Victory Medal.
He worked for many years and retired from TVA as a draftsman. However, he will be most remembered for being a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Pansey Ellis and Lucy Gallaher; and three brothers: Philip Cox, Howard Cox, and Henry Cox.
He leaves here to cherish his memory his loving wife of 64 years, Helen Forrester Cox; one daughter, Jane Sherrill and husband, David, of Hendersonville, N.C.; one son, Glen Cox of Chattanooga; three grandchildren: David Sherrill Jr. (Fillamay) of Bowling Green, Ohio, Adam Sherrill of Hendersonville, N.C., and Brandon Ricketts of Chattanooga; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
A private family interment will take place at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
