The first annual Relay For Life Battle of the Banks was held at Cleveland State recently.

Competing in the tournament was BB&T, Bowater Employee Credit Union, SouthEast Bank, Southern Heritage Bank and United Community Bank.

The tournament was a single elimination tournament and was open to employees, employee spouses and their children. Banks could recruit players from any of their branches to play in the tournament.

First place went to BB&T, second place went to United Community Bank, and the Most Valuable Team award went to United Community Bank.

The Most Valuable Team award was based on money the teams sold in team tee shirts and tickets before the tournament.

The Athens Battle of the Banks will be held on July 24 at Tennessee Wesleyan College.

Any bank with a branch in McMinn County can participate in the tournament.
