Bradley Central High School marketing department and DECA members recently competed in the Tennessee DECA Region 5 Conference held in Knoxville. Seventeen students attended the conference and five of those students placed in the top 3. Elizabeth Duncan placed second overall in Principles of Business Management and Administration, and qualified for the Tennessee State DECA Competition in Franklin, March 5-9. Briley Johnson and Danielle Holder placed third in Hospitality Services Team Decision Making Event role play and Allison Hayes and Casey Tolleson placed second in Travel and Tourism Decision Making Event role play.

Hayley Deal, President of BCHS DECA stated, “Throughout my three years participating in DECA, I have gained valuable leadership, professional, and team building skills from the region, state, and national competitions I have participated in.”

BCHS DECA members also attended the Tennessee State DECA Conference in Franklin March 5-9. Students attended various leadership and teambuilding seminars as well as networked with other DECA members throughout the state of Tennessee.

The marketing department and DECA advisor is Heather Bischof.

DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs throughout their high school years. DECA members are academically prepared for college and careers in marketing, finance, hospitality or management, become community oriented by gaining an appreciation for the benefits of service and their potential impact on the community and world, learn how to be professionally responsible with ethics, integrity and high standards, and gain leadership experience by practicing key leadership skills such as goal setting, consensus building and project management. There are more than 185,000 DECA members are in 5,000 high school chapters in all 50 states and nine countries.
