GREENVILLE, S.C.— Lee University’s Josh Ball and Camil Martinez have been named National Christian College Athletic Association Student-Athletes of the Week.

Ball, a senior forward from Savannah, Ga., began the week with a remarkable six goals and one assist in the Flames’ 8-0 thumping of Clearwater Christian College on Thursday evening. The senior forward would follow up that performance with a goal to help Lee score a 2-2 draw over Palm Beach Atlantic University on Saturday afternoon.

Ball is a business and finance major and finished the regular season with a team-leading 17 goals. He has scored three or more goals in a match on three separate occasions to anchor the Flames’ offensive attack.

The Flames complete the regular season at 10-3-5 overall while placing second (8-2-4) in their inaugural Gulf South Conference (GSC) campaign.

Lee will begin postseason play on Nov. 22 when they take part in the NCCAA Mid-East Men’s Soccer Regional Tournament. Locations and times are yet to be determined.

Martinez was instrumental in helping guide the Lee volleyball squad to a perfect 3-0 mark against GSC opponents last week.

The Dominican Republic native began the week with 32 assists, 12 digs and six kills in Tuesday’s straight-set victory over West Georgia. The senior setter registered 49 assists and 21 digs on Friday as the Lady Flames completed the season sweep of Union University (Tenn.) by a 3-1 margin.

The week finished on Saturday afternoon in one of the more thrilling matches to ever grace the sport court at Walker Arena. Martinez would do a little bit of everything as she finished with 43 assists, 24 digs and six timely slams to lead Lee past Christian Brothers in a five-set battle. Martinez now has 582 assists and 192 digs on the season.

The Lady Flames will finish the regular season with a pair of conference road matches in Alabama over the weekend. On Friday Lee takes on Alabama-Huntsville at 8 p.m., followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup with North Alabama.
