Bernard Delashmitt, 83, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012.
He served in the United States Army and was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for driving an ammunition truck away from a danger zone in Korea, thereby saving several lives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Maroon Delashmitt; daughter, Kimberly Diane; son, Johnathan Lee; parents, Paul and Vio Delashmitt; and sister, Pauline Reed.
Survivors include his daughter, Belinda Delashmitt Whitten of Cleveland; grandchildren: Stephanie Whitten Kerr and Hilliary Whitten Green, both of Franklin and Savannah Whitten Hoehn of Nashville; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Doris Price of Cleveland.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Laurel Hill Lebanon Church Cemetery with the Rev. Russell Maroon officiating. Military honors will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ralph Buckner Funeral Home.
