She was born in Alabama on Jan. 13, 1936, a daughter of the late Winford Carl Greene and Maureen Stephenson Greene Poteet. She was of the Baptist faith.
Fishing and spending time with her family was Bette's two favorite hobbies.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Raymond Lewis.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory two daughters: Lisa Burns (Mike Burns) and Deborah Gibson (Garrett Hyatt); two sisters: June Wilson and Rebecca Daughtery (Patrick); a special brother-in-law, Patrick Daughtery; five grandchildren: Jason Burns, Shane Burns, Shannon Burns, Amy Dawn Smith and Chad Smith; and eight great-grandchildren: Jacob Ledford, Ashlyn Ledford, Blake Morris, Jonathan Hunt, Shane McNeely, Gage Burns, Gavin Burns and Kamden Bullurd; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends and family.
A celebration of her life is planned for Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at 3 p.m. at the Southview Baptist Church, located at 553 13th Street in Cleveland, with Ronnie Ledford and Terry Lee officiating.
The family will receive friends for visitation and viewing on Saturday afternoon from 1 until the 3 p.m. service time at the church.
