Bradley North All-Stars
BRADLEY NORTH PITCHER Riley Black gets the second out of a triple play at home against South Pittsburg. Black had already gotten the runner coming from third out and thrown it to first base. The throw came from first baseman Cooper Cavanagh to get the next runner coming home. Black then threw the ball to second base for the third out of the triple play.

The Bradley North All-stars 9-year old baseball team went undefeated in the East Ridge Orange and White tournament. The Bradley North All-stars have heated up the summer so far with a record of 14-2, winning their last 12 games in a row.

In the East Ridge tournament alone the Bradley North All-stars turned two triple plays. The first one was against Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe (Ga.) on a ball hit to center field. It was caught by Brody Swafford who then fired in to shortstop Riley Black. Black tagged both the runner going from second to third as well as the runner trying to go from first to second.

The second triple play was during the championship game against South Pittsburg. The ball was hit back to the pitcher, Black, who beat the runner to the plate on a force-out at home. Black then threw the ball to first baseman Cooper Cavanagh, but the throw didn’t make it in time. Cavanagh threw the ball back to Black at home to tag the runner who was stealing home. Black then threw the ball to Seth Caldwell at second, who proceeded to tag the runner going from first to second.

An umpire calling the game said, “I’ve seen a lot of baseball and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that.”

Riley Black pitched three innings for the win, Ashton Simmons pitched one inning of middle relief and Brody Swafford pitched the fifth inning for the save.
