A Fall Court resident returned home from a trip to find his home had been burglarized.

According to a report filed by deputy Ken Ritenour of the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office, Zachary L. Sharp was notified by a neighbor that his garage door was open.

The neighbor investigated and found a door leading into Sharp’s home appeared to have been kicked in.

After returning home, Sharp found that two X-box controllers, a Remington firearm and a muzzleloader weapon had been taken.

BCSO Criminal Investigations Division detectives were notified of the burglary. The missing items were valued at $650.

Investigation is continuing.

- Jewelry was the target for thieves who broke into a Dixon Drive residence over the weekend.

Deputy Melanie Johnson filed a report for Sherry Jones, who was listed as the homeowner.

Jones told Johnson she had left her home just after noon Saturday.

When she returned home later that evening, Jones noticed her jewelry was missing along with some medications.

According to the report, a 5-carat diamond ring, a 24-inch gold rope necklace, a herringbone necklace, two diamond cluster rings (one of 3 carats and one of 2), a 1-carat diamond solitaire, bangle bracelets, 10 pair of diamond earrings and ankle bracelets were among the missing jewelry items.

Jones estimated her loss at more than $32,000.

According to Johnson, the home’s windows and doors were all locked prior to Jones leaving her residence.

Johnson also noted that it couldn’t positively be determined where or how burglars gained entry to the home.

Detective Kevin White of BCSO’s investigation division was notified of the incident.

- Tennessee Highway Patrol will be conducting Safety Belt Checkpoints in Bradley County beginning this weekend, and in Polk County the following weekend.

The checkpoints will be set up in random locations in the county.

According to THP officials, such checkpoints are an effective means of recognizing the dangers presented to the driving public, by motorists who would violate the laws of the state.

All scheduled checkpoints are contingent upon weather conditions and manpower availability.
