The Chattanooga Symphony & Opera, under the direction of Kayoko Dan, CSO music director, will be presented. The program will feature “The Composer Is Dead,” a new and somewhat whimsical introduction to the instruments of the orchestra with music by Nathaniel Stookey and text by Lemony Snicket.
Carey Shinbaum, a CSO musician, will be the narrator at these performances.
Additional music will include “The Pink Panther” (Henry Mancini), “In the Hall of the Mountain King” (Edvard Grieg), and “Funeral March of a Marionette” (Charles Gounod).
Also featured will be the CSO Youth Orchestra Concerto competition winner, Hannah Kuhn, a member of the CSO Youth Orchestra. Hannah will be performing portions of the fourth movement of the Elgar Cello Concerto with the CSO.
The Cleveland Symphony Guild has sponsored these concerts for over 20 years for the students of Cleveland and Bradley County.
The music that is presented always includes selections from the school music curriculum and features demonstrations of the various instruments and instrument groups of the orchestra.
The orchestra presents a program that is inspirational and educational for over 2,000 elementary school students from Cleveland and Bradley County each year.
