The Lady Crusaders of Cleveland Christian traveled to Chickamauga, Ga., Thursday night to face conference foe Oakwood Christian Academy in volleyball action. Oakwood quickly took control of the match and defeated the Crusaders 26-16, 25-11 and 25-12.

“Oakwood looks to be one of the top teams In the conference at this point of the season going into the conference tournament. They have a strong front row attack and it was definitely hard to defend tonight," coach John Mathis remarked after the match.

"I was proud of our effort tonight. The score doesn’t reflect it, but every starter had a dig tonite, which is saying a lot against such strong hitters. Savannah Morgan came off the bench and provided five digs. We just couldn’t adjust to get quality passes to our setter."

Acacia Thompson had two kills and an ace for the Lady Crusaders. Kelsey Farris led the CCS with five digs and a block on defense and two kills and an ace on offense. Carrie Claypoole contributed two digs and an ace.

Cleveland Christian (7-7, 3-5 in SCAA) will host Maryville Christian on Sept. 25.
