CDPAC wins 8 National Grand Champion titles

The Avant Garde Dance Company of the Dance and Performing Arts Center in Cleveland recently competed at The Encore DCS National Grand Finals at the Savannah (Ga.) Civic Center. One group of participants in the grand finals includes Kyley Yarber, Makenna Baker, Lexi Valliere, Jaidyn James,  Ashley Harper, Kaley Higginbotham, Caitlyn Lynn, Haley Truelove, Abbi Cook, Allie Reid, Emily Derrick, Ashley Tate, Shelbee Jordan, Caroline Saunders and Caitlynd Harned.

The Avant Garde Dance Company of the Dance and Performing Arts Center in Cleveland recently competed at The Encore DCS National Grand Finals at the Savannah (Ga.) Civic Center. Five days were spent in workshop classes, opening number rehearsals and the National Championship Finals competition.

CDPAC was one of only two studios from Tennessee participating. They competed against dance schools from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky and Virginia. More than 700 entered the National Championships.

Teen Company Contemporary “The Secret of Eleanor Rigby” was chosen as a Standing Ovation Finalist by the judges as one of the Top Ten Dances of the entire competition with a Diamond medal. Out of more than 800 dances, only 10 were chosen.

Nisa Hooper was awarded as one of the Top Petite Choreographers of the entire 351 dances of the Petite Competition for Shelbee Jordan’s National Elite Petite Grand Champion solo “Trapped.”

Jaidyn James: Diamond — First-place Open Division and First Overall National Grand Champion Petite Rec Soloist.

Olivia Orr: Platinum — First-place Modern Division and seventh in Overall Petite Rec Soloist.

Allie Reid: Platinum — First-place Musical Theatre Division and third Overall Petite Competitive Soloist.

Shelbee Jordan: Diamond — First-place Open Division, first Overall National Grand Champion Elite Petite Soloist and highest Elite Petite score of the entire nationals competition.

Cameron Davis: High Gold — First-place Rec Musical Theatre.

Ashley Harper: High Gold — First-place Rec Open Division.

Lexi Valliere: Platinum — Second-place Jazz Elite Division and third-place Contemporary Elite Division

Emily Derrick: Platinum — First-place Jazz Division, first-place Contemporary Division and first Overall National Grand Champion Teen Competitive Super Soloist.

Abbi Cook: Platinum — First-place Lyrical Division, first Overall National Grand Champion Senior Rec Soloist and highest Senior Rec score of the entire competition.

Caitlyn Lynn: Platinum — First-place Elite Contemporary Division and first-place Overall National Grand Champion Elite Senior 19-24 Soloist.

Emily Derrick, Caitlyn Lynn and Lexi Valliere: Platinum first-place Contemporary Division and first-place Overall National Grand Champion Competitive Teen Duo/Trio.

Shelbee Jordan and Caroline Saunders: Platinum — “My Imaginary Friend,” first-place Open Division and first Overall National Grand Champion Competitive Petite Duo/Trio.

Allie Reid and Lexi Valliere: Platinum — “Smile Girls,” first-place Musical Theatre, fourth Overall Junior 9 - 12 Duo/Trio:

Mini Company Acro: Platinum — “Rainbow Connection,” first-place Open Division and seventh Overall Petite Rec Small Group.

Mini Company Lyrical: Platinum — “Paper Dolls,” first-place Open Division and first Overall National Grand Champion Competitive Small Group.

Junior Company Acro: Diamond — “Once Upon A Dream, first-place Open Division and fourth Overall Petite Rec Small Group.

Junior Company Lyrica: Diamond — “Not Alone,” first-place Lyrical Division and third Overall Junior Competitive Small Group.

Teen Company Contemporary: Diamond — First-place Competitive Contemporary and second Overall Teen Competitive Small Group.

Teen Company Jazz: High Gold — First-place Rec Jazz and fourth Overall Teen Rec Small Group.

Teen Company Lyrical: Platinum — First-place Competitive Lyrical fourth Overall Senior Competitive Small Group.

Teen Company Acro: Platinum — First-place Competitive Open and fourth Overall Teen Competitive Small Group.

AGC Company Production: Diamond — First-place Teen Open Competitive Super Group and second Overall Teen Competitive Super Group.

Teen Company Hip Hop: Platinum — Second-place Competitive Hip Hop.

Cleveland Dance & Performing Arts Center will have open house and fall registration Aug. 6 from noon to 8 p.m. Competition Team Meeting will be Aug. 8, at 6:30 p.m. and Competition Team auditions and evaluations will be Aug. 10 at 10 am. For more information, email CDPAC at cdpac5678@gmail.com.
