A Cleveland Utilities water system upgrade scheduled to begin Monday will create temporary disruptions in water and traffic in affected areas, according to an announcement by Philip Luce, manager of CU’s Water and Wastewater Division.

“Cleveland Utilities will be upgrading the water system by replacing small-diameter lines with 6-inch water mains on Ohio Avenue between 20th St. N.W. and 17th St. N.W.; on 20th St. N.W., 18th St. N.W., 17th St. N.W. and on Everhardt Dr. N.W. between 20th St. N.W. and 17th St. N.W.,” Luce reported in a media statement.

Temporary disruptions in water service and roadway traffic in these neighborhoods will continue through the next 30 days depending on weather.

“This construction will cause some temporary disruption to traffic,” Luce said. “Water service will also be temporarily disrupted when connections are transfered to the new water main. Every effort will be made to limit the amount of disruption.”

Questions should be directed to the Engineering Department in the Cleveland Utilities Water Division at 478-9372 or 478-9388.
