The Calvary Baptist Church Praise Team from Etowah will headline the Cowboy Gospel Jubilee Friday at 7 p.m. The show is free and everyone is welcome.

“Led by Teresa Wilson of Just Us Bluegrass, this is a group unlike any we’ve had on the Jubilee,” said Will Nichols, producer of the weekly music event. “Not only are they the largest, at 30 singers ranging from ages 6 to 50, but they may be the most eclectic, performing a variety of songs from old hymnal to contemporary Christian.”

Wilson originally imagined the group as a youth choir, but was flooded by all ages wanting to join. Now at 30 strong with new members still joining, the team sings at other churches and participates in a couple of dramas each year.

“God has truly blessed us with so much talent at Calvary Baptist Church,” said Wilson. “I was blown away by the response and participation I had. I then knew this was God’s plan all along.”

Also appearing on the Jubilee are regulars Amy McAlister, singer-songwriter Elmer Bramlett, “The Wild Man” Danny O’Boyle, Emily Varnell, as well as the Cowboy Church Band and Chorale. Nichols, known as “The Gospel Gun,” is the announcer and a crowd favorite.

The Cowboy Gospel Jubilee is held at the Cleveland Cowboy Church in the Dockery Heights community at 3040 Blythe Road, off Dockery Lane, between Blue Springs and Blackburn roads. Admission is free and a love offering is taken for the group.
