The Bradley County American Cancer Society is looking for sponsors and donations for its annual Cancer Survivors’ Banquet.

“It costs $10 to sponsor a survivor and caregiver/guest,” fundraising chair person Paula Morfield said.

The event is offered free to survivors. Morfield said the event is open to survivors and one guest.

The event is being planned for Aug. 14 at First Baptist Church at 6 p.m.

Morfield said the organizations need to raise sponsorship funds before that date.

Decorations have been donated, but the organization needs money to cover the cost of food for the event.

“These people have fought hard fight against all kinds of cancer — breast cancer, prostate, kidney, lymphoma, colon, you name it,” Morfield said.

That banquet serves as a time to celebrate another year. The theme is birthdays. The event usually has 250 to 300 survivors in attendance.

“Everybody knows someone who has been effected by cancer,” Morfield said.

Morfield is a survivor and has been on the BCACS committee for 12 years.

“All of our money raised [at the Relay for Life] goes to cancer research. I hope that someday my great granddaughter will not even know what cancer is,” Morfield said.

For more information, email Morfield at pjmorfield@ or call 423-716-3366.

Donations make be mailed to P.O. Box 461 McDonald, TN 37353. nCheck should be made out to ACS- Bradley County and designated for the Survivor Banquet.
