Carl D. Green, 90, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his home.
He would have celebrated his 91st birthday next week. He was a lifelong member of Big Spring United Methodist Church.
He was employed by Dupont Corporation for more than 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 81. He enjoyed golfing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Y. Jess Green and Nellie Tilley Green; two brothers: Mack and Jake Green; and a grandson, Rob Westphal.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Merle Sims Green, of Cleveland; three children: Steve Hixson and wife, Cathy, of Cleveland, Annette Phillips of Cleveland, and Terry Hixson and wife, Doris, of Port Charlotte, Fla.; grandchildren: Scott Kyle and wife, Lisa, Chip Phillips and wife, Mary, Mike Phillips, Sarah Lambert and husband, Adam, Kim Hixson, Tina Hixson, and Kelly Hixson; stepgrandchildren: Rendi Welton, Elaine Hixson, and Liana Corn; great-grandchild, Ella Marie Lambert; brother, Jess Green and wife, Wanda, of Cleveland; nieces: Susan Jerfie and husband, Joe, Karen Green, and Judith Green; and nephew, Danny Green and wife, Marcella.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today, May 19, 2013, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with the Revs. Lyle White, Debbie Stokes and Adam Lambert officiating.
Inurnment will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Chattanooga National Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
