He was born Jan. 6, 1930, in Cuba.
He came to New York at age 17 and began working in the restaurant industry.
After marrying, he and his wife moved to the Miami area and lived there until approximately three years ago when he moved to Cleveland to live with his daughter Gloria.
He was of the Catholic faith.
His hobbies included scuba diving, reef diving, and saltwater fishing, but he will be most remembered for being a loving father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elia Diaz.
He leaves behind two daughters: Gloria St. Clair (David) of Cleveland and Isabel Diaz of Miami; one son, Carlos M. Diaz Jr. of Coleman, Fla.; seven grandchildren: Cameron N. St. Clair, Brittany Paige St. Clair, Edwin Carrasquillo, Atnwan Diaz, Alexis Diaz, Jasmine Diaz, and Raul Diaz; and a host of other extended family members and friends.
The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
