Cecil Swallows, 65, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Monday July 16, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was well known for his love of bluegrass music, people and most of all his family.

He was also known for his great sense of humor and could bring a smile to anyone he met.

He was the son of the late Luther Swallows. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gene and Robert Swallows.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Swallows of Cleveland; one daughter, Elaine Hembree; granddaughter, Beth Hembree; and mother, Margaret Swallows, all of Cleveland; brothers: Edward Swallows, J.B. Swallows, Ray Swallows, Junior Swallows, Earl Swallows, Jack Swallows and Joby Swallows, all of Polk County; sister, Mary Ann Sims of Polk County; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the North Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Charles Moore and David Evans officiating.

Interment will follow in the Cofer Cemetery with Tommy Swallows, David Swallows, Johnny Croft, Frankie Baker, Perry Suits and Tony Phillips serving as casket bearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
