Charles Edward “Bill” Shook, 77, of Benton, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012 at his residence.

He was of Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Shook; parents, Alvin Franklin Shook and Lily Mae Cross; and a brother, Benny Franklin Shook.

He is survived by his children: Riley Shook (Renae) of Georgia, Janet Goins (Leonard) of Cleveland, Shelia Charlene Luther of Benton, Charles Shook Jr. (Joan), Billy Jo Shook and Curtis L. Shook, all of Cleveland; grandchildren: Matthew and Jeremy Shook of Georgia, Kevin and Rick Smith of Cleveland, Jennifer Self of Old Fort, Crystle Ellison of Benton, Charlie Shook III of Old Fort, Jeffrey Shook of Cleveland, Brandy Bishop of Benton, Billy Jo McKinney of Cleveland, Cassondra Taylor of Cleveland; 29 great-grandchildren; siblings: Jack and Buck Shook of Chattanooga, Tom Shook (Sue) of Chattanooga, Sprauley Shook (Caroline) of Georgia, J.M. Cross (Joann) of Benton; and sister, Katherine Branam (Hobert) of Florida; several nieces and nephews and special friends: Terry Ross, Denise Sweeny and James Ledford.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, in McDonald East View Cemetery with Pastor Pete Morgan officiating.

Johnathan Wilson, Tim Shook, B.J. Shook, Kevin Smith, Rick Smith Jr. and Charlie Shook III serving as pallbearers. Bryson Ellison will serve as honorary pallbearer.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Higgins Funeral Home.
