Charlie “Bill” Hembree, 84, a resident of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, in an Etowah health care facility.

He and his wife, Francis “Momma” Hembree, for more than 28 years had a radio ministry called “The Word of Life” which was broadcast on several local radio stations. He also worked for Rubbermaid and retired from the TNT plant, but his passion was his ministry.

At one time he pastored Burlington Heights Baptist church and in his later years, while a resident of Etowah Health Care Center, helped many times with the church services there.

He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Francis Modean “Momma” Hembree; five brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by his daughter, Connie Hayes and her husband, Larry, of McDonald; granddaughter, Danielle Smith of Brewton Ala.; great-granddaughter, Josephine Mae McGill Brown of McDonald; sisters: Irene Hatton of Ocoee, Bessie Waters of Etowah, Margie Miller of Tellico Plains and Bertha Thomas of Tennessee; one brother, Art Hembree of McDonald; and several nieces and nephews.

A Remembrance of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at the Wildwood Chapel of Jim Rush Funeral Homes with the Revs. Benny Watson, Charles Maney and Mark Lapham officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hilcrest Cemetery with Bill Rutledge, Josh Hembree, Shane Yarber, Allen Yarber, Chris Dodson, Johnny Morris, T.J. Baxter and James Dean serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends this evening from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.
