Charles G. Moore, 87, High Point died Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, in a local hospital.

He was a native of Harrison and has lived in High Point Community for the past 51 years.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp having served in Bougainville, Guam and Iwo Jima. He was selected to represent the state of Georgia at the dedication of the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

He was retired from Chattanooga Coke and Chemical Company after 39 years of service and was a member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church where he was a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lena Dolores Shipley Moore; and two brothers: Clarence and Troy Moore.

Survivors include his wife, Juanita Perry Moore; sons: David Moore of Charleston, Charles ( Randy ) Moore of Harrison, Michael Moore of Cooper Heights, Ga., and Gary Moore of Morrison; daughter, Brenda Blackwell of Chickamauga; sisters: Anna Lea Hise of Rising Fawn, Dewey Mae Hanning and Louise Picklesimer of Harrison and Johnnie Van Gelderen of Chattanooga; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, Battlefiedl Parkway, with the Rev. Josh Brown and the Rev. Jeff Brown officiating.

Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
