John Moore, board chairman of the Bradley County Soil Conservation District, welcomed more than 50 kindergarten students, teachers, and parents from Charleston Elementary School for a tour of his dairy farm on May 20. Moore and his family and his ancestors before him have lived on the farm for 100-plus years. Moore explained the daily operation of the farm and found the children very inquisitive and interested in the dairy operation. The newly born baby calf was a big hit. “It is very important to teach the younger generation about the importance of agriculture,” said Moore. Moore said he is dedicated to the preservation of the family farm and to agriculture.
