A Charleston man was killed in Polk County Thursday afternoon after the pickup truck he was driving crossed the centerline on Old Federal Road and struck another oncoming pickup truck.

The information provided by a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper Gray Gibson identified the deceased as Shawn Hall, 33.

Hall’s vehicle was carrying one passenger, who was also injured. According to the report, Hall was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Old Federal when he crossed the centerline and collided with a vehicle driven by Christopher Wilson, 30.

Wilson’s vehicle contained three passengers.

According to Gibson’s report, neither Hall nor his passenger was restrained; however, Wilson and all three of the passengers inside his vehicle were wearing seat belts.

The initial investigation report revealed no indications of any alcohol use.

According to Stan Clark of Bradley County Emergency Medical Service, West Polk County Fire and Rescue, along with McMinn County EMS and Polk EMS, responded to aid the six victims.

A total of six ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Hall was dead at the scene, according to THP reports.

Three LifeForce helicopters were dispatched to the area and Bradley County Fire Rescue also assisted in establishing landing zones during the multicounty mutual aid response.

Clark said all survivors of the crash were flown to Erlanger Medical Center to the Trauma Center for treatment.

Their conditions were not known.

WPFR Chief Steve Lofty commended the work of his department and all those who came to aid at the scene of the crash.

Also assisting at the scene were Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Polk County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
