Charlie LaVern Bryant, 64, of Cleveland, passed away Monday morning, July 8, 2013, in a local hospital.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, and a former staff member of M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home for more than 14 years.

He was the son of the late Charlie and Conas Bryant Sr.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Peak; sister, Shirley Robinson; and his wife, Debra Westfield Bryant.

Survivors include three sons: Douglas Bryant, Paul Bryant and Eric Moore, all of Cleveland; two sisters: Clara Swafford and Beatrice (Charles) Swafford, all of Cleveland; a devoted girlfriend, Darla Ware of Cleveland; four wonderful stepdaughters: Jennifer Brewer, Geneva Ware, Alicia Ware, and Jamie (Donnie) Lowe, all of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Mallory (Tim) Barrett; brothers-in-law: Thomas Westfield and Theodore Westfield, both of Cleveland; one aunt, Bill Jo Johnson of Harriman; six grandchildren that loved him dearly; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; dear friends: Marquis and Alma Dotson of Cleveland; best friend, Gus Swafford of Georgetown; and many other friends.

The funeral will be held Friday, July 12, 2013, at noon at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Robinson Sr. officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church, from 11 a.m. to noon.

Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, with M.D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
