Sonny, who suffered a heart attack in 1990, and Liz, who had cancer in 2000, are experiencing what some may call a rejuvenation of life in their senior years thanks to a healthy choice of nutritious eating, exercise and the discovery of a wonder pill they say is enhancing their healing process and promoting overall good health.
The couple have long been proponents of a healthier lifestyle, even growing their own grapes, tomatoes and other organic foods. But upon learning about the benefits of the muscadine grape and taking a product made from muscadine seeds, called Nature’s Pearl, Sonny and Liz said they noticed a distinct difference in their health.
“Even though I recovered greatly from my heart attack, when I’d be at the (Bradley Square) mall walking, I’d get these sensations in my chest — unpleasant sensations,” said Sonny.
“So I would sit on the bench a bit to give my heart an opportunity to expand the blood vessels, to dilate them. After about a month and a half of taking ‘Nature’s Pearl,’ a muscadine grape supplement, I found that I could keep on walking.”
“I noticed immediate energy,” says Liz. “Within the first couple of days I had a lot more energy. I’m also much more mentally alert. When you’re going on 64 that’s important.”
“Most people don’t know that the muscadine grape is the only grape native to America. It started here in the Southeast,” says Sonny. “It thrives in the hot, humid and disease-prone climate of our area. These growing conditions make muscadine grapes very different from the common grape.”
According to an October 2007 report published online at Sciencedaily.com, muscadine grapes have been shown to be “more potent in antioxidants than any other variety of grapes. Laboratory studies have suggested that grape seeds have a higher antioxidant capacity than grape skins.”
The Web site Buzzle.com, says, “Muscadine grapes have an extra set of chromosomes, which contain genes that allow them to produce a unique balance of phytonutrients, which are absent in other grapes.
“Hence, muscadine grape is also considered as a super grape. There are numerous studies which are under way that are investigating the role of ellagic acid in cancer prevention. According to some reports, this acid may prove to be useful in chemoprevention, which means to chemically prevent cancer from occurring, growing or metastasizing in the body.”
“I was very excited when a friend of mine told me about the clinical studies done by Wake Forest University Health Sciences on the research behind the muscadine grape supplement, ‘Nature’s Pearl,’” Sonny says.
“The study found that simply by taking the muscadine supplement, the brachial artery, the major vessel in the arm that goes to the heart, had a dilation of four percent, which is a comparable expansion to taking prescription medications only without any side effects.”
The book “Muscadine Medicine” said evidence is growing that photochemicals in muscadine grapes “promote healthier levels of cholesterol, prevent blood clotting, protect the blood vessel wall and defend the heart when it is deprived of oxygen.”
Now that Sonny and Liz have added both muscadine juice and a muscadine supplement to their health regimen, both are reporting more energy, less pain and healthier brain activity over the past 90 days.
“It’s not unusual in our society for people to spend their lives and energy pursuing wealth. In the process they lose their health,” says Sonny. “But once their health is at risk they would gladly spend their wealth to try and regain their health.”
Liz says she gives God the glory for healing her on May 22, 2000, and has taken responsibility for improving her health by drinking fresh organic carrot juice daily, taking a multivitamin with minerals and two calcium tablets daily.
“I also exercise and walk two laps inside the mall three to four days a week,” she says.
The couple is planning on attending a free Health and Wellness Seminar open to the public at the Mountain View Inn in Cleveland on August 21, at 10 a.m.
In addition to hearing a free lecture by Dr. Ted Chandler, an eminent authority on diabetes, everyone will be given a free bottle of the muscadine supplement, Nature’s Pearl, for attending.
