This Sunday at 7 p.m., Candies Creek Church will host a "Stand With Israel Briefing" in their Worship Center, located at 294 Old Eureka Road, Charleston. The church is located 3 miles north of the Hopewell School on Tennessee highway 306.

Dr. Jamison Work, lead pastor at Candies Creek Church, has invited retired Marine Colonel John Somerville to speak about such things as the roots of anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, replacement theology, the Wars of Israel, and the current struggle with Iranian President Ahmadinejad.

Dr. Somerville served as an intelligence officer with the Marine Corps in the Middle East, including Israel, Turkey, Somalia, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria for 30 years. His interest in the land of the Bible, his more than 50 trips there, as well as his military service in the region, make him a voice of knowledge and authority concerning current political and military situations in the area. He now serves with Christians United for Israel as its Central Region coordinator in the U.S.

Pastor Work has said that part of the reason they are hosting this special evening with Dr. Somerville is because, “The Bible commands us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6), to speak out for Zion's sake (Isaiah 62:1), to be watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem (Isaiah 62:6), and to bless the Jewish people (Genesis 12:6). Christians have a Biblical obligation to stand with Israel and the Jewish people in their time of need.”

The public is welcome to attend.
