Christina Hope Gargala, 16, a resident of Benton, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012, in a Chattanooga hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

She attended Polk County High School and was employed with Captain D’s.

Survivors include her parents, Thomas and Sheila Kirkland Gargala; sister, Amanda Silvers and husband, Luke, of Benton; grandparents: James and Edith Kirkland of Benton, Billie Higgins of Linsdale, and Steve Gargala of Cleveland, Ohio; aunts: Brenda Kirkland, Joyce Nolen, and Anita Kirkland, all of Benton, Kim Hamby of Tellico and Christy Gargala of Old Fort; uncles: Randy Kirkland and Wayne Kirkland, both of Benton, Scott Gargala of Old Fort and Kyle Hamby of Tellico; and several cousins.

The funeral will be held at 8 p.m. today, March 27, 2012, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home in Benton, with the Rev. Pete Morgan officiating.

Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.

Randy Kirkland, Wayne Kirkland, Scott Gargala, Kile Hamby, Ricky Fraizer and Roy Raines will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 this evening at the funeral home prior to the service.
