He was a self-employed painter, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force in World War II, a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 259, Eastern Star, Civitan Club, Overton County Historical Society, and the American Legion. He also served as commissioner and justice of the peace for many years.
He was born March 26, 1927, in Overton County, he was the son of the late Roy and Ova (Kennedy) Hensley.
Survivors include his wife, Hauda (Burks) Hensley of Livingston; daughter, Janie Copeland of Cleveland; sons and a daughter-in-law: Tom and Cynthia Hensley and Tim Hensley, all of Cleveland; sister, Mozell Neely of Akron, Ohio; brother, Perry Hensley of Livingston; five grandchildren: Brian Copeland, Brent Copeland, Chad Copeland, Kody Hensley and Jesse Hensley; and seven great-grandchildren: Bryce, Brooke, Cole, Faith, Mackenzie, Kadyn, and Caleb.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2010, from Bethelehem Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Johnson and the Rev. Nolan Brunson officiating.
Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery with full military honors.
Pallbearers were Brian Copeland, Chad Copeland, Brent Copeland, Bryce Copeland, Cole Copeland, Kody Hensley, and Jesse Hensley.
Arrangements were provided by Livingston Funeral Home.
