Clyde Howard Tallent, 72, of Athens, passed away Wednesday morning, Nov. 27, 2013, at his residence.
A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Austin and Carrie Yarber Tallent. He was preceded in death by a brother, Manuel Tallent.
He was a former employee of White Stores, Food Lion and Ingles Market. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Judy Keller Tallent of Athens; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Clyde “Howie” and Melanie Tallent of Cleveland, David Allen Tallent and fiancé, Mollie Weaver, of Athens; four grandchildren: Jeremy Tallent and his wife, Tiarra, of Cleveland, Shannon Epps and her husband, Michael, of San Diego, Austin Tallent and his wife, Stephani, of Athens, Cheri Tallent of Athens; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Cullen and Wanda Tallent of Athens; twin brother Claude and his wife, Carol Tallent, of Athens; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home in Athens, with the Revs. Farrell Green and Aaron Cope officiating.
Interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in McMinn Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Michael Epps, Jeremy Tallent, Austin Tallent, Wayne Kuykendall, Ray Yarber Jr., and Eric Loyd. Honorary pallbearer will be Michael Rodgers.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
