Colleges announce dean’s list students

Roane State Community College

HARRIMAN — Area students have made the president's and dean’s list at Roane State Community College for the Fall 2013 semester. To be eligible, a student must attain a 4.0 GPA while attempting 12 or more semester hours of college-level courses.

On the president’s list are: 

- Emily Hite of Decatur and

- Emily Lenna of Decatur.

On the most recent dean’s list are: 

- Alli Maldonado of Decatur;

- Orzetta McHone of Decatur; and

- Kayla Schrank of Decatur.

Georgia Institute of Technology

ATLANTA, Ga. — Rebekah Day of Cleveland made the dean's list for the most recent fall semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

This designation is awarded to undergraduate students who have a 3.0 or higher academic average for the semester.

Tennessee State University

NASHVILLE — The following local residents were among the 2,033 students from Tennessee State University who were named to the university’s Fall 2013 dean's list.

The following students from Cleveland made the list: 

- Jessica Balfour, a communication major;

- Tiaerra Goodine, a nursing major; and

- Keiosha Harrison, a nursing major.

The dean’s list names students who have achieved a GPA of 3.0 or higher in 12 or more semester hours taken for a letter grade during the spring semester.

Middle Tennessee State University

MURFREESBORO — Middle Tennessee State University has released the names and hometowns of those students who appear on the dean’s list for the fall 2013 semester.

The dean’s list student from Benton was Richard J. Cox.

Cleveland students on the list included Atarah N. Abdullah-Muhammad, Catherine N. Betts, Nathaniel Ian Brownfield, Courtney Danielle DeLay, Jessie Lane Garrett, October Dawn Henson, Daniel A. Hopkins, Brock T. Howard, Ebony Shaneice Johnson-Bunion, Riley H. Kralik, Phillip Scott Lineberry, Steven Lee Lorenz, Jean Matthew Lugo, Logan McAmis, Janiece Annette Milner, Bailey S. Moore, Julie T. Neuendorf, Charles Edward Norwood, Melani R. Owens, Mary E. Redmond, Ashleigh M. Roeser, Kelly Amanda Rohrbach, Mary J. Smith, Evan Christopher Stutzman and Matthew Paul Veilleux.

Hannah Catherine Schwartz represented the town of McDonald on the list.

The students from Ocoee who made the list were Nicholas Henry Carey and Lauren Elizabeth Whaley.

To qualify for this distinction, undergraduate students must maintain a current semester GPA of 3.5 or above and earn at least 12 semester hours.

Lincoln Memorial University

HARROGATE — Lincoln Memorial University has announced the students who were placed on its dean’s list for the fall semester of 2013.

The following area students made the list: 

- Katelyn Franklin of Cleveland, a nursing major, and

- Suzanne Hornsby of Decatur, also a nursing major.

To be placed on the dean's list, the student must be a full-time undergraduate and have a 3.5 GPA for the semester.



U. Tennessee at Knoxville

KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee has released its dean’s list for the Fall 2013 semester.

To qualify for the dean's list, an undergraduate student must earn a term GPA of 3.80 to 4.00 (summa cum laude), 3.65 to 3.79 (magna cum laude) or 3.50 to 3.64 (cum laude). Students must complete at least 12 credit hours during the semester, not counting work taken on a satisfactory or no-credit basis, to be eligible.

Bradley County students earning the magna cum laude status were Karleigh B. Bloomer, Drew M. McClendon, Richard G. Ness, Cassy M. Parker, Claire E. Pierce, Veronica M. Rubio, David R. Turpin and Luis E. Zavala Villanueva.

The most recent summa cum laude students were Robert K. Connell, Grant P. Currin, Izabella T. Dasilva, James F. Fitzsimmons, Olivia C. Hysinger, Eric C. Ingraham, Catherine C. Jordan, Bailey M. Loseby, Madison D. Moreland, Jake R. Morris, Brittany N. Nettles, Heather N. Pell, Alexis N. Resides, Sarah A. Slocum, Barrett N. Thompson and Katherine H. White.

Students from Bradley County ending the semester cum laude were: Shelby R. Calfee, Samuel L. Hoops, Aleksander Klibisz, Kaylyn M. Landry, Beverly L. Mazza, Benjamin W. Murphy, Concepshean N. Rice, Alexis C. Schroder, Austyn L. Stevenson, Sydney P. Stewart and Alanna F. Wilkinson.

Polk County students finishing magna cum laude were Montana M. Bazzell, Meghan E. Bennett and Matthew J. Stinnett.

Earning the summa cum laude status were: Charles D. Boggs, Kayla R. Curbow, Hannah R. Fuller and Elise M. Placher.

The students from Polk County who were designated as cum laude were Victoria R. Placher and Grant D. Smith.

Samford University

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Samford University has named two students from Cleveland to its most recent dean’s list.

Brittany N. Crabtree and Alex D. Lowry have both been honored for their academic achievements by being named to the list.

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 GPA out of a possible 4.0 while attempting at least 12 credit hours of coursework. The dean's list is the highest academic recognition given by the college at the end of each semester.
