Coty C. Allen, 19, of Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., died Sunday, May 25, 2014, as a result of a lifelong battle with Dent’s disease (a rare kidney disorder).
He was born March 23, 1995, in Augusta, Ga., the son of Brent J. Allen and Kari Calkins Allen.
He was passionate about Hip-Hop dance and music. Despite his condition, he had competed in and won several dance competitions. For a short time, Coty attended East Ridge High School. He loved being with family and friends, and when able, he never missed an opportunity to be with them. In return he was loved, and he was an inspiration to all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents Brent Allen, of Evans, Ga., and Kari Calkins Allen of Fort Oglethorpe; and his brother, Cooper Allen; his maternal grandparents, Gary and Lea Calkins of Ooltewah; his paternal grandmother, Joyce Allen of Grovetown, Ga.; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service was held today, May 29, 2014, in Evans. A Celebration of Coty’s life will be held in South Pittsburg on June 7, 2014, at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations to the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger. Donations can be mailed to Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, 910 Blackford St., Chattanooga TN 37403 (payable to Children’s Hospital Foundation) or Shriners Hospital for Children, 1900 Richmond Road, Lexington KY 40502 (payable to Shriners).
