[This is a letter to] Tom Wheeler, Tom Rowland, Walt Vineyard and Paula Wills, customer service and billing manager [at Cleveland Utilities].
I object to having to be penalized (at least $20 extra each month) for keeping an analog meter on my home because, according to Susan Foster, [in an] MSW Health study of “Firefighter exposed to 5 years of steady RF (microwave) radiation”: “... Smart meters are NOT safe when one has a pacemaker or certain cardiac arrhythmias. It has long been accepted in the medical literature that RF radiation can interfere with the heart’s natural rhythm and/or the rhythm sustained by a pacemaker.”
There are enormous health risks with so much exposure to electromagnetic/radioactive waves. There are documented reports of the effects these waves are having on people’s health such as loss of memory, dizziness, nausea, headaches, migraines, muscle spasms, insomnia and even cancer.
I received your letter dated Oct. 23, 2012. In December 2010, I submitted a document not to put a smart grid meter on our home or workshop. In the document it reads, “Smart grid meters produce radiation and are dangerous to those with health problems and pacemakers ...”
I am asking what is the evidence that SmartMeters are safe and have no adverse health effects? Where are the actual human health studies done in relation to people living in homes with SmartMeters?
According to Dr. David Carpenter, M.D., “The fields associated with electricity are commonly called ‘extremely low frequency fields (ELF), while those used in communication and microwave ovens are called ‘radiofrequency’ (RF) fields. Studies of people have shown that both ELF and RF exposures result in an increased risk of cancer.”
Dr. Eric Braverman, M.D., states, “There is no question EMFs have a major effect on neurological functioning. They slow our brain waves and affect our long-term mental clarity. We should minimize exposures as much as possible to optimize neurotransmitter levels and prevent deterioration of health.”
Dr. Samuel Milham, M.D. & MPH, states, “Very recently, new research is suggesting that nearly all the human plagues which emerged in the 20th Century, like common acute lymphblastic leukemia in children, female breast cancer, malignant melanoma and asthma, can be tied to some facet of our use of electricity. There is an urgent need for governments and individuals to take steps to minimize community and personal EMF exposures.”
Abraham R. Liboff, Ph.D., states, “The key point about electromagnetic pollution that the public has to realize is that it is not necessary that the intensity be large for a biological interaction to occur. There is now considerable evidence that extremely weak signals can have physiological consequences.”
Libby Kelley, MA states, “We strongly encourage consumers, manufacturers, utility providers and policymakers to reduce, eliminate and mitigate EMR exposure conditions and to support biologically based standards.”
James S. Turner, ESQ states, “We live in an invisible fog of EMF which 30 years of science, including over 2,000 peer-reviewed studies, shows exposes us to serious health risk such as increased Alzheimer’s disease, breast cancer, Lou Gehrig’s disease, Huntington and Parkinson diseases, EMF immune system hypersensitivity, and disruption of brain function and DNA.”
I am personally requesting the time the SmartMeter was read for the Alzheimer’s patient who lived out on Ladd Springs Road on Oct. 28, 2012, who went missing.
I will not accept a SmartMeter until you can prove in writing through documented research that they will not harm me and my family. I will hold you (Paula Wills, Walt Vineyard, Tom Wheeler, the [CU] board of directors including Mayor Tom Rowland and/or their estates) for any harm that comes to me or my family from the accumulative effect of our neighbors’ daily reading of SmartMeters affecting our family’s health.
And finally, a must-see video titled, “The Dark Side of ‘Smart’ Meters,” which should give you all the health risks linked to this so-called new technology!
I [DiAnna Stanich] have a pacemaker.
